The 18-hole Prince Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and spans 390 acres of landscaped greens, tropical jungles, waterfalls and ravines. Jones has called the Prince Course "one of the top five courses I've designed". " The Prince Course with a USGA course rating of 75.3 and a 145 slope, the highest rating in Hawaii, said Princeville's Director of Golf, Larry Lee Jr. "This type of challenge combined with its spectacular mountain and ocean views makes for a winning combination". The companion 27 hole, three nine Makai Course was also designed by Jones. The three nines extend from the clubhouse. Each nine has a distinct, scenic flavor, which is reflected in the names- the Lakes, the Ocean and the Woods. Because of the course's integrated design, any combination of the three nines provides a challenging round of golf. Jones states, "In all the world, I never expect to find a more spectacularly beautiful place to build a golf course than Princeville, overlooking Hanalei Bay".
