| Description |
Halekulani means "house befitting heaven", a name bestowed on the original 19th century oceanside house by Hawaiian fishermen. Originally a private estate created around it's ocean side century's old Kiawe tree, the Halekulani has been accommodating discriminating travelers to Hawaii since 1917, a combination of gracious hospitality, modern luxury and distinctive service.
In 1983 the Halekulani was re-opened having been carefully rebuilt, the delightful nineteen-thirties main building with its traditional architecture and eucalyptus woods was beautifully restored.
The Halekulani is Oahu's only AAA Five Diamond Award hotel and restaurant; it is also a member of "The Leading Hotels of the World" and "Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide".
It is now home to the award winning La Mer restaurant and the appropriately named Orchids, There is also a choice of private dining rooms and lounge areas where afternoon tea is served.
"House Without a Key" is the hotel's popular gathering place where the Halekulani maintains the old tradition of sunset cocktails with Hawaiian music and dance, beneath the stars and the ancient Kiawe tree.
