Well worth a visit is Waimea Bay Beach Park, which is quite beautiful, with clear turquoise waters and a lovely white-sand beach, is a great place to swim and boogie board during the summer months, when the ocean is normally calm and flat.
During the winter, watch out, it is strictly for viewing the awesome power of nature when the waves can reach 35 foot or more. Even so the locals who were born to surf will ride those massive waves.

| Waimea Valley and Adventure Park |
Across the road from the bay is the1800-acre, Waimea Valley Adventure Park, the early Hawaiians lived in this lovely valley, which is now a cultural center and a beautiful botanical garden, full of tropical blooms and rare plant species and a winding river.
The pathways extend up the valley for about three-quarters of a mile ending at a 60-foot waterfall and natural pool. During the day there are various Hawaiian cultural activities including ancient hula dances and games.
There is an entrance fee; the park is open daily from 10 am until sunset. There are rest rooms and a simple cafeteria.
